A graduate of the Faculty of Law of the University of Tokyo, Yoichi Wada joined Nomura Securities Co., Ltd., in 1984, before joining Square Co., Ltd., in 2000, becoming President and CEO in 2001. In 2003 he was instrumental in the merger of Square with Enix Corporation to become Square Enix Co., Ltd. (currently Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd.), serving as Representative Director and President from 2003 to 2013. He has also served as Chair of Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) and Chair of the Digital Content Use Promotion Conference of Keidanren, among other positions. In 2016 he was awarded the Medal with Blue Ribbon from the Japanese government.
He holds board member positions at Metaps Inc., Mynet Inc., and WonderPlanet Inc., all of which are listed companies.
